On an early spring morning, March 21st, 2025, ZIRAN's co-founders, Jing Li, and Grace Li, visited Fridley High School and delivered a bilingual environmental lecture to the school's high level Chinese class students. They started the lecture talking about why and how to reduce waste and pollutions, and then engaged the students in a hands-on interactive session on correct recycling practices. Despite being the first class of the day, the students were very focused and actively participated in the Q&As and hands-on activities.
Prior to this lecture, Mrs. Huang had prepped her students with essential Chinese vocabulary centered on environmental sustainability. The lecture provided in both English and Chinese further strengthened and supplemented their knowledge and vocabulary in this area. This groundwork enabled the students to effectively apply their language skills in a practical setting during the lecture, and hopefully for their future daily life.
The lecture, though brief in short 50 minutes, was packed with meaningful discussions and learning opportunities, making it a valuable educational experience for all participants. The students were also excited to learn about volunteering opportunities as recycling ambassadors at the upcoming 3rd annual Twin Cities West Metro Asian Fair on May 31st, 2025.
ZIRAN will be hosting an 'Eco Street' at the Asian Fair, featuring attractions such as a Solar Tiny House and a Clothing Fix-it Clinic with fashionable ideas. More exciting details coming soon, stay tuned!
